Merry Xmas to you all and traditionally, this is a time for family even if you don’t celebrate Christmas. I did some personal development work with a company called ‘ Landmark Education ‘ over the past two years and learned so much in this important area of our lives. There may be some families that have disputes amongst each other and all of a sudden, Christmas is very awkward for some of us to talk to each other let alone want to be near each other. Something happened at some stage in our lives and all of a sudden the relationship is not the same. This is because we all have our very own unique point of view, i.e. your way of interpreting what happens to you from the minute you wake up to the minute you go to sleep. So let’s say that something happens when you were young, something like your mother always gave your brother or sister a much better Christmas present than you got, then over time you start to view your mother as this horrible thing that didn’t like you as much as your bother and / or sister. That point of view is your interpretation of a story you tell about what happened. So right up to adulthood you have built up this story about your mother never liking you as much as your other siblings. You eventually get married, have kids, grandmother wants to see the kids and guess what story pops up and gets in the way? This is just hypothetical of course and the point I’m making is that humans tend to collapse what really happened with a story, interpretation, unique point of view. In this example all that happened was that mother bought Christmas presents for her children and one of the children made up a story about his / her mother based on his / her own unique point of view. And we as humans do this all the time. Relationships are hampered because of this. There are obviously worst cases than this and it happens in all walks of life and not just amongst families. It happens at work, play and even wars break out plain and simply down to differing points of views. So this Christmas could be used as a time to think about your own unique point of view, and use the holidays as a time to forgive and let go of the past. We only live once so why let stuff get in the way? Let me know how you get on. I wish you all a peaceful Merry Xmas… Enjoy!!!
