Boris Johnson re-elected London mayor

As you all know by now, outside my career in the UK Fire and Rescue  Service, I have a strong interest in Politics and Sports.

Well, last night, Boris Johnson won the London Mayoral election, beating close rival Ken Livingstone.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Johnson acknowledged that it had been a “long and gruelling fight”, but insisted that he would “continue to fight for a good deal for Londoners.” He also paid tribute to Ken Livingstone, describing him as “amongst the most creative and the most original” of left wing politicians.

That means that for another four years, Boris is ultimately my boss as the Greater London Authority ( GLA) is the umbrella for the Fire and Police authority in London.

I must admit that I do have a lot of time for Boris, and also his father Stanley whom lives a few doors away from me in Central North London, and I wish Boris all the best in his second term as Mayor of London…

Boris Johnson rescued the Conservatives from disastrous results in the local elections last night, bucking the national trend to win a second term as Mayor of London.
